no time to fully list them, but think I am at 20, all commons so disposable
most are harass/steal/trade
will stock up on more as available so replacements will be handy

what I would like to know is what our skill strategy will be in 3. will we shift from harass to fight for the better VPS?(question, NOT recommendation). will we keep trade there even tho it is weak pointwise? granted, we will be throwing attacks in every skill, clearly, but it would be nice to know for purposes of setting up SS with gear and such.

and you will get the bigest bonuses to harass at a camp of OURS that is a harass camp, like Neck in the north. there is another type of bonus that is based on the level of the camp. this is in the form of better drop rates and better experience and victory points. in the case of harass tho it is a no brainer, Neck is currently both harass and highest level . let the spamming begin!

Warning! this post predates The Great AvA Fiasco of Season 2. advice may or may not be applicable now

ok, here is how that went. I built Stark this time but focused on SS and stats across the board instead of all Battle. Surprisingly, it worked pretty well, not just relative to AvA but just as a leveling platform. Yes, my main skill was lower from lack of focus, but AvA is VERY kind to your SS. Particularly if you have solid camps to work from. I was throwing freshly bought common SS in with limited gear and still pulliing 95% success rate if not going against opposition SS. Even opposed I had good odds. Pulling 120ish xp for an hour commitment levels them fast. That meant not having my main skill as high mattered less because I was sending better SS. Having the generalist build also meant I was doing this in ANY attack type I chose. I sent Battle SS to barter, Trade SS to steal...whatever seemed useful at the time. I worked thru this incarnation just as quickly and easily as I did my last specialist build.

lessons learned:
  • Buy cheap at stay at full capacity. That is 2+1per5 levels I believe. the 1200 for common means they are expendable if you choose to garrison them and they will quickly pay for themselves. I recommend you spend the first few days running adventures to recoup the expense rather than tossing them AvA
  • Mid to late AvA cycle means big buffs from camps, so reincarnate then to ride the wave.
  • Concider using the biggest camp even if it is not dedicated to the attack you will use. You get better xp and odds of drops at bigger camps. If you are worried about loosing, attack someone that has no camp/destroyed camp/ungarrisoned camp, you will STILL get a shot at the drops and XP (but the silver will suck generally)
  • You earn no silver from AvA. All silver goes to the camp used(or comes from if you loose). your personal risk is SS injury and wasted time. If you need silver, do PvP or adventures instead.
  • You can not get milk from a dead cow. If you are trying to fund a camp you may have to search out a victim that actually has money in that camp. Barter will still work anywhere. And you can fund them before stealing from them via barter/swindle/bribe...if it pays them you can steal that silver back. You can barter even with a nonexistent camp.
  • Friendly attack types 'win' even when they lose. Aid will heal their camp 1 rather than 2 for a real win for instance.
  • Healing your camp can only be done with YOUR silver. You can not trade at a damaged camp that has full upgrade silver and expect that silver you generate to be spent healing the camp. Try to find someone out there and trade Aids or dig in you own purse. This also means you should rarely spend your own silver building up camps. Build camps with harass/trade/steal and put your silver to healing or into yourself
  • Failing at a damaging attack hurts the attacking camp too! Attack will wreck your camp. Steals will loose you silver. Be careful with those attacks(but they DO give the best victory points and XP)
  • If you accidentally attack an ally, or even a neutral make sure you follow it up with a helpful 'attack' ASAP. The game can be buggy, I have Attacked  when I meant to Barter once or twice. If you back it with Aids they will likely understand the mistake, and unless you are tough or lucky you will probably have lost the attack anyway(you attacked a good trading camp, most likely with a merchant) so they end up better than they started. Or they may not even notice the attack because you scrolled it up the list, lol. Either way, it greatly reduces the odds of making the clan a new enemy or loosing a friend.

I will add more if I think of it. so here are a few AvA experiences I feel are instructive to share

Barter against powerful friendly camp---barter always 'win', but a bad win means poor xp and I presume worse silver.
'win' nets 2500 silver and 17 xp roughly, done at White Knife level 10 iirc. I got owned, but a loss is a 'win' in trade, so we got silver to show for it. I even got a shot at a drop.

Barter against a nonexistant camp of powerful friend---95% success rate even with just a valerian dagger on my main and unequipt Battle type SS. Yes, you have 1 point of opposition.
win nets 75 silver and 70 XP...yes, sliver even tho they have no camp there. I assume they do not benefit in any way, but that is good xp for a lame excuse for a trader, and a shot at a barter loot. success rate still holds, the payout now is severely nerfed. probably better to fail trading from a low level camp to a high friendly camp than to win against a lower camp now

Pls feel free to comment or correct me, I will update with the new/correct info to keep this easy to read.

Howdy folks! Not to my 'final' incarnation yet. That one will be Greyjoy, name TBA. On my last before it tho. This one is Cohollo Hotatostein, House Stark. I will try to return any trades or aids I receive. TIA;)

Thanks:)

I had recently decided that I was going to stock up on SS. Normally for these build up incarnation I have been buying only 5 of them. 3 in my strength and one each for the others, all rares.
This time I will be buying all the common and uncommon I can to do attacks/trades in mass, riding the bonus from our camps. No way will I be able to outfit them properly, especially as I will be doing final reincarnation in 2 weeks anyhow. With this strategy it makes sense to build most every building and contribute with trades, using my internal silver for buildings to support the SS. So, lots of trades to build camps, and lots of various to stack up seals. This brings up an interesting question tho...

does camp bonus apply towards skill % bonuses on SS?

If I have 100 battle on my character thru levels, items, and buildings and I have a SS with 1 battle but 10% harass bonus then he will have 100+1+100*10%=111 effective harass, correct? but will that 300pts from camps add 300*10% for 30 more? if so that 30 is better than the 20 I gave up to get the 10%(you do loose flexibility tho, harass vs battle points). If it does, then as far as AvA is concerned this is a very viable option.
This plan does not lend itself to defending tho. I will build plenty of rares on my final(Greyjoy) tho so eventually I will be able to help there.

I have also noticed the need for diversity of building, not just those that help you on your focus. Getting those harder items to build camps is really slowing us down in some cases. I will build my Siege soonest, as that is a prime example of a bottleneck.

Basics / Re: Reincarnate
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:20:53 am »
as far as supporting the alliance is concerned it would be best to:

  • give items to the AvA camps that need them
  • give items to the challenges(but never the final item)
  • sell the rest(including SS) as suggested, and drop the silver on AvA camps in need

It might be possible to leave an SS guarding when you reincarnate, but I have not tested that yet.  If so then that would be preferable to selling them.

pros vs cons.

pro: you can accumulate the buildings of each house, making you a resource beast as well as opening up more items for your final incarnation. They also offer bonuses and stats you will not otherwise have available. The stats alone are a big deal in the long run, but the bonuses can be huge, cumulatively speaking.

you can rack up spiffy daggers.

you should be able to rack up bonuses for houses you do not intend to keep. ie get spy boosts from Targ that you will use to scout for PvP when you go Bar/Grey/whatever later. AFAIK this is still bugged and the only perm perks that work are the house building.

you get to experience the game from other houses perspective(the dialog changes from house to house)

ODC pro: you can rack up ALL the titles! (also bugged it seems:P)

cons: you loose all that PvP/AvA effectiveness you worked for.

you get to pull your hair out until you have some SS again to get stuff done.

Unless you use the same name none of your friends will know who you are(maybe that is a pro?)

If you only sorta like the game you will burn yourself out on it and quit before you finish your incarnation cycle.

hording bread is a minor nuisance, but it will speed you along(you can grind out an incarnation in 2 weeks or less if you really want to this way)

OCD con: you HAVE to get all the titles!

so....in the end doing the incarnation boogie will net you a more powerful character than you could have otherwise. It is DEFINATLY not the only way to get your resources up(you could pile up SS instead and grind with them) but it IS the only way you will have access to all the toys.

hope that makes your decision a bit easier, cheers;)

Basics / AvA advice
« on: November 06, 2013, 01:35:29 am »
I would like to solicit some advice for building my character with a focus on AvA.

My next incarnation is my last throwaway before my final so I can aford to skew it that way. My current plan is to go single stat(aid because of it being Stark) and using the spare points to ratchet down the time(lvl 30 perk) on other event useful skills like trade.

That is all I have decided so far. If you want to recommend skills to work on, great. If you have other tweaks in mind, even better! And if this turns into a full blown AvA tutorial thread.....awesome:D

TIA, Porci(Ottyn Nobettr for the moment)
